STEAM Into My Class with Talos

Updated: Jan 5, 2020

Feeling as if you've come to from a deep sleep, you realize you're in a unique universe of mythological ruins and strange technical advancements. Your objective is far from simple . . . tasked by the master with solving a variety of complex puzzles, you must decide whether to have trust in the master; or to ask questions you may not what to know the answer to.

And here is where my student's journey begins with my newest gamification creation, based off the phenomenal video game, The Talos Principle, by Croteam. They were kind enough to give me the "go ahead" to pursue this educational creation. Thanks to them, my students are reaping the benefits. With my multitude of gamification educational creations, my inspiration is always to get my students to improve their writing skills, while incorporating STEAM skills in the process.

To begin, my students get an icon sheet (shown below) to understand their obstacles in each level.

For each lesson, the students follow a sequence of activities.

Activity 1: Analyze the Situation

Activity 2: Propose a step by step solution to obtain the sigil (puzzle piece).

Activity 3: Correlative Writing

Below you can see some video clips of my students working through a learning experience.

Note: When it comes time to check their solution proposal, the students watch my game play video clip of solving the puzzle. Hence, the work below is based from the first video listed below.
